Early Morning Stucture Fire - Forward Twp.
Sun. Mar 15th 2009

Shortly before 0600 ETFD was dispatched for a reported structure fire to the rear of Latorre's Auto Sale on Hayden Blvd. As the units were answering the call additional reports came in that the fire was on Mentor Road in Forward Twp. Forward Twp Police arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire at 8263 Mentor Road in Forward Twp, ACES alerted the run assignment for the correct address. Due to confirmation of a working fire ETFD units along with the RIT Team from Sutersville continued responding until a Forward Twp units were on scene. Within 5 minutes 140 Lt 7 arrived on scene reporting a fully involved detached garage, 2 pick up trucks on fire and a single family dwelling on the Bravo Side in jeopardy of igniting; establishing "Mentor Road Command". EN139 arrived shortly thereafter and secured a water supply deploying mater streams and covering the exposures. Crews worked just under 3 hours to extinguish the fire and perform extensive overhaul. The house was held to minimal damage only from radiant heat from the garage fire. All crews working did a fabulous job, thanks to their efforts the homeowner still has a house to return to. All personnel and civilians escaped without injury, the Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
